The Agnus Dei in the center—“The Lamb of God.” One of many symbols for Christ in Scripture is the lamb—He is that perfect Lamb without spot or blemish (1 Peter 1:19). He reigns victorious over sin and death, paying the just penalty for sin on our behalf by the sacrifice of His blood.

Solus Christus—“in Christ alone”—salvation is found only in Christ—He is the only mediator to the Father.

John 1:29:

“The next day [John] saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’”

The prophet Isaiah first shared this Lamb to come:

“He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,

And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,

So He opened not His mouth. (Isa. 53:7)

“Age to age the same” is a line from A Mighty Fortress is Our God, written by Martin Luther.

“Did we in our own strength confide,

our striving would be losing,

were not the right Man on our side,

the Man of God's own choosing.

You ask who that may be?

Christ Jesus, it is he;

Lord Sabaoth his name,

from age to age the same;

and he must win the battle.”

The Lord has victory over the grave, sin, and death—this is certain and the foundation of our hope.

John, in the beginning of the same chapter in which he refers to Jesus as the Lamb of God, reminds us that He has always been and is God. Of 7 titles given in just this chapter, he calls Him the logos—The Word—the eternal Word.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
