We hope this funny phrase (one that we use all the time, ha!) could be a Gospel conversation starter to share the hope that we find in Christ. We can (and should) boast in Him and His work on the cross, knowing that we have had an overwhelming debt paid on our behalf.
1 Timothy 1:15
“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.”
The world tells us to “listen to our hearts” and our feelings as the ever-changing, subjective fount of morality in which anything can be justified, uniform for no one. Instead, we rely on the Word of God as our source of truth and ultimate authority. His Word is sufficient for us!
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
Proverbs 14:12-13 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.”
Proverbs 28:26 “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” —Ephesians 2:8-9
Sola Gratia means “grace alone” and is the namesake for Sola Gratia Co. It is only by grace through faith that men can find salvation from sin—as opposed to any of our work meriting salvation. The only work that can save was Christ’s work on the cross. Our hope is that this might serve as a help in starting conversations about the Gospel of grace with others.
