Beauty & Awe

The reaction I’ve gotten over and over whenever I’ve showed this dress to friends (some of your LDC ladies here!) has been something like a gasp, followed by a comment about just how beautiful the colors and florals come together! 

The Lord God is the only truly creative Being—only He can create from nothing and all things created are from Him. With every observation of beauty, we as human beings are pointed to a Creator. (Even the peacock’s beauty puzzled Darwin!)

Something we like to say to our kids when we see them awestruck in nature—“isn’t that flower BEAUTIFUL? God made that flower!” “WOW! That bug has such a neat shell with those markings! God made that bug!”

Scripture tells us that the beauty we see should not be worshipped but God as the One who made it. Let all things beautiful point us to the God who made them!

“The heavens declare the glory of God;

the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech;

night after night they display knowledge.

There is no speech or language where

their voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out into all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world.”
